Job Description
Fort Stanwix National Monument in Rome, NY is hiring! Do you want to celebrate the 250th working at the "fort that never surrendered"? If so, this might be the perfect opportunity for you. In addition to America’s 250th birthday, the park is celebrating its 50th anniversary of being open to the public with special programs throughout the season.
Can you picture yourself:
- Giving tours and programs to people from all over the world?
- Firing a musket or cannon?
- Assisting visitors at a bustling information desk learn more about the park?
- Demonstrating daily life with the Continental Army while wearing period clothing?

Position: GS-5 Park Guide
Pay: Starting at $19.52/hr.
Schedule: 40 hrs./week, seasonal, weekends and holidays (staff weekends change with the seasons)
Length of Duty: As soon as possible post background check through mid-December (optimally June-December)
Do you have experience:
- Teaching others?
- Working an information contact area?
- Giving tours?
- Providing interpretive programs? (RA-led community builder programs count!)
Please Note:
In order to be considered for the position, you must provide specific information about your job experience as it applies to this position along with the date range you worked those positions. Resumes should be no longer than two pages. In addition, you will be required to provide proof of residence within a 70-mile radius from the park in order to qualify for the local hiring authority.

Applicants must live within the local commuting area (70 miles from the park), including:
Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Oswego, Onondaga, Cortland, Cayuga, Chenango, Otsego, Lewis, Fulton, and Montgomery counties.
